Casino-type thing?

Casino-type thing?

Post  Ryanhis on Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:27 pm

I've been considering writing a few programs in computercraft involving casino games. (blackjack, poker, slots, etc, etc. Perhaps even a little kiosk for the tavern, like video poker or something Razz)

Now, if these were just for sport, that's cool. But the real beauty of it would be in betting actual minecraft $$$.

The only thing I can come up with, is "cashing in" and "cashing out", much like using chips and such.

You could pay me (or whoever is in charge of the casino) some money, and they add money to your casino "account". You'd have to sign in using a specific code, and you can bet as much as you have? Whenever you're ready to transfer your casino "chips" for actual money, you would have to contact the owner again.

Unfortunately, if they're not online, you'll have to wait until they are.

In addition, the owner will get tired of having to manage all these tiny accounts and being called every two seconds to exchange "chips" is bound to get annoying.

The problem is, I have no other ideas as how to make this happen.

Anyone have an alternative? :\

That sounds really interesting, and I wouldn't mind a little kiosk machine in my pubs. :)

And as a matter of fact I believe I have a solution to your problem. Their called industrial credits. You can look them up on the wiki but basically they can act as a kind of money to exchange items with in tekkit. There's even a machine that can give the player rewards for turning in the credits. For this to work though you'd have to stop players from just crafting the credits (four bars of refined iron) so I'd ask Ara about that. But if it's possible to keep others from 'counterfeiting' your chips then it would work really well I believe. :D

Good luck and I hope to have a little business deal with you in the future. xp

I think a casino would be awesome. I don't know about refined iron being the currency.. but even if it was a people could make it, without EE that would be really expensive so i think it would all work out just fine Very Happy Just let me know what you guys find out. I'm looking forward to seeing a final product Very Happy

umm, its not really just refined iron, its four refined iron in a square. And if it's only being used for the casino then people can just "cash" in their credits for the economy money. If it's not possible to keep players from crafting the industrial credits then the only other way would be to know the exact number of credits you have out there or keep score of who has how many. -shrugs-

Well, the computer system can keep track of money just as well as industrial credits could. In fact, it would be an easier way to keep track of it, and harder to cheat. So, I think i'd rather use digital money to cash in and cash out.

Alright then. It was just a suggestion since there are also machines that don't require the owner to be there to operate in tekkit. Maybe you could hire a staff xD. Anyway, hope it works out well!
